I LOVE MY JOB

With Tom "Durrrr" Dwan So... We're writing this now from Jeju Island, South Korea, where the K Poker Cup x King Poker Cup Series is taking place from July 25 to August 10. I've been here for a week and - as usual - it's always great to see familiar faces of the poker industry. First off, the very awesome tournament and floor directors - Cris, Jerry, Harry, Joker and the other Philippine crew who were shocked that I too was Filipino. They are always always helpful whenever we from the media need anything from them - chip counts, answers to improbable questions and sometimes a few drinks. Although Joker has yet to deliver. LOL Then, there are the familiar players, who have become friends over time - Punnat Punsri, Tom Verbruggen, Jun Li, Joseph Cheong, Dylan Foster, Tony"Baby Tiger" Ren Lin, Ryan Plant, Wai Kiat Lee, Danny Tang .... and drum roll - Daniel Neilson . I've been a fan of Daniel Neilson since once upon a time in  APT Manila when he won ...

2010 WSOP: Simon Watt Wins Event #11 $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold'em

Image
Simon Watt of New Zealand bested 2,563 in Event #11 of the 2010 World Series of Poker, a $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold'em event. Simon Watt was a winner in the Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) of Pokerstars, and can now include a WSOP bracelet to his win with more than $600K in cash to go along with it. Simon Watt also becomes the hero of the likes of Eli Elezra and Matt Matusow , who made a prop bet with Tom "durr" Dwan for one million dollars if Tom Dwan could win a WSOP bracelet throughout the 2010 World Series of Poker. Well, Tom Dwan almost made it, but fell short at second place, making $380K, and still in danger of losing the million dollar prop bet to Mike Matusow and Eli Elezra among others. Tom Dwan was pretty disappointed with the loss in heads-up play, and walked out of the event pretty quickly, asking the tournament director if he could just return the next day for his stuff. Finishing in third place was David Randall of Westerville, Ohio, taking ...

2010 WSOP: Eli Elezra vs Tom "durr" Dwan for $1 Million

Image
Poker pros Eli Elezra and Tom Dwan aren't going heads-up against one another. Instead, Tom Dwan made a $1 Million bet with Eli Elezra that he will a WSOP bracelet. Tom Dwan was seeking an opportunity to win a bracelet at Event #6 $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout. He managed to win his table in Day 1 to make it to round 2. However, his unlucky KK went all-in against the 10-10 of Blair Hinkle , with Hinkle spiking a 10 on the river to bust out Tom Dwan . Eli Elezra was seated at another tournament nearby, and started chuckling when he saw Tom Dwan step away from the felt disgusted and busted, and probably smirking back at Eli Elezra . Tom Dwan still has over 50+ events to grab a WSOP bracelet, including the 2010 WSOP Main Event from July 5 to July 17 with the buy-in of $10,000.
