A Very Happy Hour

So last Friday, I went to play the Friday Deepstack at Okada Manila, but was disappointed to find out it was cancelled. Instead, I decided to kill time by sitting in at the 25/50 cash game.

I bought in for 4,000 and it was I think the fifth or sixth hand dealt to me and the second one I played. The first I played KhJc, opened to 125 and was heads up against the defending big blind. We checked down a board of As-Ac-7s-3c-2s all the way to the river. BB fired 200 and I called, thinking a king-high might be good, but the dude hit the seven, showing 8c-7c.

A few folds after, someone raised from under the gun to 150, I called from the button, holding Th-9h and the big blind made it 500 to play. UTG called and I called.

Flop came Ts-9c-3s and I sat on two-pair. Big blind fired 700, UTG called and I called. Turn came Td. I now had a full-house.

Big blind checked. UTG fired 1,200 and I called. Big blind check-raised all-in for his last 1,800. UTG went all-in also for 3,600. I called for my last 2,475. UTG showed Js-Jd while Big blind showed Kd-Kh.

River bricked a 6h. I win the main pot for 9,025 and the side pot for 2,550 - minus the rake - a total of 11,275. Seat open.

The hand after I was dealt As-Ac and limped 50 from the cut-off. The button pushes to 200. The small blind - tilting from his kings, decides to shove his 1,125 in the middle. I tank and call. Button shoved his last 1,750 and I complete the remainder for a side pot.

Main pot: 3,375. Side pot: 1,250

In cash games, you don't have to exactly show your cards for a showdown until the final river is dealt. Unlike in tournaments where all the cards are opened before any community cards are dealt.

So I held on as did the other two.

Board completed Js-5h-8d-2s-Ah Small blind showed Ad-Qh for a pair of aces. I show my rockets for a set and the button flashed a Tc before mucking - probably tens.

Total chips in my stack minus the rake: 13,800.

Two more seats open.

Make it three as I request for a rack for my chips.

After cashing out,  I decided to celebrate a bit and headed to the bar just across the poker room for a neat double Maker's Mark and a draft Pale Pilsen. I take notes of the hands on my phone and save it to include in my blog for a later date.

That date is today.

Cheers!
