HERO TO ZERO AT OKADA MANILA MILLIONS MAIN EVENT

This is a bit of a late post just because I haven't found the time. I got back from APT Taipei and had to work on some art for a group art exhibit. In case you didn't know - I'm also an artist. Anyway, the exhibit was going to ingress on a Thursday with the opening reception on Friday. The only opportunity I had to play the Okada Manila Millions Main Event was on Wednesday, either on Day 1A and/or Day 1B. Hopefully that window of opportunity would be enough for me to find a bag to make it to the Day 2 on Saturday.

To be honest, I don't like the feeling of being limited to playing one day. Of course, for a main event, I would've wanted to have the opportunity to play more Day 1s, or to at least have that option should I fail to qualify in the earlier flights. But then, it is what it was.

So I jumped in on Day 1A probably at around Level 8 or 9. I was on the big blind on my very first hand. Someone raised and I defended... Anyway, here's how it went...

So, of course, I came back immediately and fired another bullet. I had a 15-outer with Qd Jd on a flop of Kc Td 3d and paid a lot for it, but didn't hit and was left with around 6,000+ chips from a starting of 25,000. Eventually after getting hit with blinds and antes, this happened...

After that, I came back and played the much later Day 1B. Jumped in earlier and built my stack to 331,000 at one point. And yes, I was chip leader at that point.

I was just doing things well. Even if I ended the day with that stack, it would've still been inside the top ten.

BUT THEN...

My JJ got dented by a desperate 44, who made a set on the turn. Lost around 60,000 or so.

That was followed by a brutal A3 v TT on a flop that had an A3T on the board, which crippled me to around 75,000 which was below the average at that point

However, I still managed to float back into an above average stack of around 120,000 but then my aces got cracked by queens with the queens hitting a two-outer on the river to send me out in 28th place with 24 to ITM. So close and yet...

All I can say is I played well, but shiz happens. All good. Had fun. enjoyed the experience and will be back again at some point to try again.

Like I said, it is what it was.
